Today’s Web Laureate Insight to last Monday’s poem…

Fiverr: I Offer 5 Dollar

5 x 5

but more — a network where one is but dependent upon another, and vice versa

two it takes — one doer + one needing of something done

on 3, on page 3 of the site was found the request

".." to make pies for costs

accruing to a 5 dollar each

for 5

5 is the magic number within, with 5 rows, with 5 syllables, with an emboldened count from 1 to 5

not but 1, but more…
two it takes — not free.
do, be done, on 3
"make four pies for me,"
for each 5 dollar.

Today’s Web Laureate Classic Insight into last Fridays poem…

Threnody of Netscape

Dum-Dum

it may be easy to forget, but it was not too long ago that the end of one of the pioneering web browsers, netscape, came to fruition. its life, marked, on this dirge, as would be marked on its tombstone — Oct. 13, 1994 to Feb. 1, 2008. the decision to shut down made by america online — after letting it atrophy.

Da-Dum

written as a dirge, with matching meter and rhyme to many other popular, to be read slowly, capturing the melancholy felt by many at the time, and repeated — yet hopefully not repeated

I used Netscape,
It was good and it was great.

They A. Online,
Did not see the good in time.

We everyone,
Do know there are more to – come.

Today’s Web Laureate Insight to last Tuesday’s poem…

It takes a Picnik

– outdoors,

google gobbles up companies, like an endless picnic of wonderful treats and surprises — so it is no wonder to know that it was only a matter of time before they gobbled up the picnik app itself

– pleasure excursion,

the faces of all emotions are those within the photos and captured screenshots that travel through picnik on its way to editing or other photo sharing websites like facebook, picasa, and flickr.

with all gathered ’round
from happy faces to
who memorably frowned

transparentmore than a few
transparenta picture, a snapshot found
transparentand screenshots accrue

biodegradable-picnic-ware[1]the feast to served
and eaten with glee
bellies now curved

for much more to thee
less than reserved
we too so watch expectantly

Today’s Web Laureate Classic Insight into last Thursday’s poem…

Spokeo: Creepy Oh!

rings…

about a year ago, i asked — how creepy do you find spokeo to be?

with levity that can only come with the clarity of the increasing occurrence of the decrease in one’s privacy that is to come and grow-grow

with…

new controversy surrounding google buzz, the old poetically penned (and typed) concerns about a web app called spokeo feels most prescient and now timely. begging the question: does creepiness come in threes? spoke, buzz, ____ <- what’s next?
